BISHKEK, Aug. 16, 2017. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have huge untapped potential, the implementation of which requires removing of all barriers, Prime Minister Sooronbai Zheenbekov said at a meeting of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek intergovernmental commission for bilateral cooperation in Bishkek.
Zheenbekov said that the commodity turnover in the first quarter of 2017 increased by 1.8 times compared to the same period last year. "We are not going to stop here. We have a huge untapped potential. We are ready to import mineral resources, cotton raw materials, medical products and preparations from Uzbekistan," Zheenbekov said.
He also said that, in turn, Kyrgyzstan also has something to export to Uzbekistan. "This is, first of all, food and processing industry products, meat and milk products and so on. In this regard, it is necessary to conduct all measures to remove all existing barriers, "he stressed.
In addition, the prime minister noted the active work between the state bodies of the two countries.
"On July 26, 2017, law enforcement, customs, border guard services, as well as all competent agencies of the countries held successful consultations. We also have positive results of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. Our peoples have a common culture and a similar history. Soon, the Days of Kyrgyzstan's Culture in Uzbekistan and the Days of Uzbekistan in Kyrgyzstan will be held," Zheenbekov said.
