BISHKEK, Aug. 10, 2017. /Kabar/. The Government of Kyrgyzstan is making efforts to develop national sports and support athletes. Prime Minister Sooronbai Zheenbekov said this at a solemn meeting with athletes who showed the best sports results in 2017, the government's press service reported.
"2017 is a success for the national sport. Our athletes continue to please us, winning at international competitions of various levels. In order to develop mass sports in the next five years, each school will have a modern sports hall. At present, sports halls and sections are already being built in many localities of the republic. This will give impetus to the development of various sports in the country, attract a young generation of fellow citizens to take up physical culture and sports,"the head of government said.
Zheenbekov stressed that the recent successes of Kyrgyz athletes are a good incentive for young beginners who are taking their first steps in the sporting career.
"The victories of domestic athletes raise the prestige of our country in the world arena," the prime minister said.
Zheenbekov expressed gratitude to the athletes for the achieved high sports results and wished successes, health, prosperity and new victories.
26 winners, prize-winners, representatives of the coaching staff were awarded with letters of thanks on behalf of the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic and a cash prize.
Note that domestic athletes won medals at the 28th International Olympic Games in intellectual sports, which was held July 13-30 in Pardubice (Czech Republic). Among the 12 participating teams, the national team of Kyrgyzstan won the second team place.
At the World Championship in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling among juniors, held from 1 to 6 August 2017 in the city of Tampere (Finland), our national team won one gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
