Zheenbekov meets with Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim in Ankara

BISHKEK, Aug 9, 2017 /Kabar/. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Zheenbekov met in Ankara (Turkey) with Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported.

The meeting of the heads of government was held first in a narrow format, then the talks continued in an expanded format with the participation of members of the governmental delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.

The delegation of Kyrgyzstan includes of Minister of Foreign Affairs Erlan Abdyldaev, Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Tugolbai Kazakov, Minister of Education and Science Gulmira Kudaiberdieva and Kyrgyz Ambassador to Turkey Ibrahim Zhunusov.

During the meeting the sides discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, culture, agriculture and trade and economic partnership.

The Turkish Prime Minister, greeting Zheenbekov, stressed that Turkey is interested in deepening cooperation with friendly Kyrgyzstan in all spheres of partnership, including in economy, trade, culture and education. He noted the need to intensify bilateral relations and spoke for the speedy holding of the next meeting of the Turkish-Kyrgyz trade and economic commission. Binali Yildirim recalled that since 1992, 3500 students from Kyrgyzstan have received higher education through higher education programs in higher educational institutions of Turkey.

"It is gratifying that within the framework of your visit to Turkey the monument to the hero of Manas epic will be opened in Istanbul. This is a common cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples," Yildirim said.

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, cooperation between our countries in all spheres is developing dynamically. He stressed that Kyrgyzstan cherishes friendship with fraternal Turkey and is aimed at further intensifying bilateral relations.

"Turkey is one of the main trade and economic partners of Kyrgyzstan. It is necessary to strengthen trade, economic and investment ties between our countries, "Zheenbekov said, noting the special role of the Kyrgyz-Turkish trade and economic commission in this matter. In this regard, he supported the proposal of Yildirim to hold a regular meeting of this commission in the near future.

At the meeting, the sides stressed the readiness to support mutual positions on cultural and humanitarian issues in international organizations, to intensify the exchange of visits between the ministries of the two countries with the aim to speed up the solution of partnership issues. The Turkish side expressed its readiness to hold the days of Kyrgyzstan's culture in Turkey at any time convenient for the Kyrgyz side and in any convenient city.
