WFP will continue promoting food security in Kyrgyzstan - Bagnoli

Bishkek, Sept. 15, 2017. /Kabar/. First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Dinara Kemelova met on Thursday with Country Director of the UN World Food Organization (WFP) Andrea Bagnoli, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

During the meeting, Bagnoli handed Kemelova an accreditation letter as the newly appointed Country Director of WFP.

"I hope for the continuation of further fruitful cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and WFP in developing and implementing joint projects aimed at improving school nutrition, social protection of poor and vulnerable families living in rural areas, combating poverty, as well as adapting to climate change and readiness for emergency situations," Kemelova said.

From his part, Bagnoli said that WFP in the Kyrgyz Republic will continue the course to assist the government of Kyrgyzstan in strengthening food security and nutrition, and make every effort to provide assistance to the most vulnerable sections of the population.
