Bishkek, Dec. 12, 2017 /Kabar/. The opening of the VII International Film Festival (IFF) "Kyrgyzstan is a country of short films" in Bishkek timed to the birthday of Chyngyz Aitmatov, the Department of the IFF of the CIS, the Baltic States , Georgia and Kyrgyzstan countries reported.
The Film Festival is supported by the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund of the CIS countries (IHCF), the Ministry of Culture of Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Public Fund "Aitysh" and by the Union of Kyrgyz Moviemakers.
The founder of the Film Festival, Sadyk Sher-Niyaz, made a speech at the official opening that took place at Manas film theater. He emphasized that the Film Festival gathers filmmakers from the whole CIS, the Baltic and Georgia on birthday of the greatest Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov for the 7th consecutive years already. It is good to see new names and new pictures every year, he added.
The chairman of the judge - Russian film critic Sergei Zemlyanuhin wished the organizers successful conduct and prosperity to the Festival "Kyrgyzstan is a country of short films". Nana Dzhanelidze, Georgian film maker, screenwriter and composer, laureate of the "Nika" award, stressed the importance of this Film Festival in the development and strengthening of intercultural ties, as well as the great role of short films in creative path of filmmakers.
Kyrgyz film director Ernest Abdyjaparov mentioned the fact that during the period when many Film Festivals are being closed, in Kyrgyzstan our festival continues gathering filmmakers. Moreover every year it becomes more popular among the CIS countries, the Baltic and Georgia. Farhad Bekmannbetov, the Director of the Film Festival, thanked the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic for its already third support. The Film Festival will last until December 15. The admission is free.
