Bishkek, Apr. 12, 2018 / Kabar /. Deputy Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Asel Koduranova took part in the meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA).
Within the framework of the meeting, the Council members discussed the results of the work of the CSTO PA for 2017, clarified the work plan for 2018 and questions of financing the activities of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. In addition, information was heard on measures to counteract the challenges and threats to collective security and the responsibility of the Organization.
Chairman of the CSTO PA, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin stressed that the Parliamentary Assembly will become an important platform for discussing measures to counter modern challenges and threats, including for taking appropriate decisions.
"By joint efforts and by strengthening inter-parliamentary and state cooperation, we will be able to counter modern challenges and threats. To do this, we need to exchange experience and adopt appropriate model laws," Volodin added.
The Chairman of the delegation of Kazakhstan, who presided in the CSTO in 2018, dwelt on the main priority areas of the Organization. Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasymzhomart Tokayev in the course of the report, noting the necessity of the CSTO PA to pay attention to such issues as counter-terrorism and information security, called for effective measures in this direction.
The delegation of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly made a report on the presidential elections observation in Russia, held on March 18, 2018. Representatives of the CSTO PA, who participated in the winter session of the OSCE PA in Vienna also made a report.
In addition, during the meeting of the Council, it was decided to hold an autumn session of the CSTO PA on October 29-30 this year in Yerevan.
