Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan meets in Dushanbe with Prime Minister of Tajikistan

Bishkek, Match 20, 2018. / Kabar /. Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Daiyr Kenekeev in the framework of the Kyrgyz-Tajik intergovernmental commission for the comprehensive consideration of bilateral issues met in Dushanbe with Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda.

The Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported that, during the meeting the sides discussed the mechanisms for implementing the agreements reached within the framework of the official visit of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Tajikistan on Feb. 1-2, 2018.

Rasulzoda stressed that the two states need to develop and strengthen trade and economic cooperation.

"At the moment, official trade turnover statistics do not reflect the potential between the countries. In this regard, the sides need to expand trade and economic relations between the countries. Special attention should be paid to intensifying bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, transport, energy and agriculture," he said.

In turn, Kenekeev noted the readiness of the Kyrgyz side to increase the volume of trade and economic turnover, intensify mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas, create acceptable and mutually beneficial conditions for trade and transportation of goods.

"The Kyrgyz Republic is interested in intensifying cooperation between the two countries. Taking this into account, we will take all measures for the qualitative and timely implementation of the agreements reached earlier between the heads of the two states," he said.

They also discussed issues of cooperation in the water and energy sector.

Following the meeting, the Tajik side confirmed its participation in the Third World Nomad Games, which will be held in September this year in the Kyrgyz Republic and the theatrical International Festival dedicated to the 90th birthday of Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.
