Bishkek, Dec. 19, 2017 / Kabar /.Uzbekistan over the past year has intensified its cooperation efforts with the countries in the region on water issues. Uzbek Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Shavkat Hamraev stated this at the training seminar on international water law issues, which is currently taking place in Tashkent.
Hamraev stressed that purposeful regular meetings of bilateral working groups are being held between the countries of the region on water management issues. "The fruits of strengthening joint actions in the spirit of constructive dialogue and mutual respect for the interests of neighbors are already manifested ," Hamraev said.
"A joint working group with Kyrgyzstan is currently being established. We are convinced that mutually acceptable mechanisms and principles for common use of the region's water resources will create a stable, long-term and most importantly trustful basis for solving existing and emerging issues in the interests of all our countries," the Uzbek official said.
The event was organized in the framework of the joint project "Smart Water" of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources (MAWR) of Uzbekistan. Earlier similar seminars were conducted in Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
