Tashkent, Oct.15, 2019. /Kabar/. According to the World Gold Council, Uzbekistan has entered the top 20 largest gold holders in September 2019, the local media reported.
Uzbekistan ranked 17th in the rating of gold and foreign exchange reserves. The republic stores 325.7 tons of gold, which is 56.2% of the total reserves of the country.
Kazakhstan took the 15th place among the neighboring countries. There are 377.3 tons of gold in this country.
The first place in the rating was taken by the USA (8133.5 tons), the second place - by Germany (3366.8 tons) and the third place - by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) (2814 tons).
Uzbekistan’s President adopted in July this year the State Program for the Development and Reproduction of the Mineral Resource Base for the coming years and instructed to bring gold and silver mining in 2020 up to 150 tons, and in 2021 - up to 300 tons.
