Tashkent, April 14 / Kabar /. “In our activity Uzbekistan is a priority for us,” director of the Tourism Department of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Zhamankulov told in his exclusive interview to Kabar Agency at the International Uzbek tourist exhibition "World of Rest - 2017", which takes place April 13-14 in Tashkent.
He said that during the Soviet times, until the 90s, the largest number of tourists in Kyrgyzstan were citizens of Uzbekistan. "During this period, Uzbekistan has a new generation, and the population today exceeds more than 32 million people. We came to this exhibition in order to present to Uzbek citizens the tourist potential of modern Kyrgyzstan. To this end, we held a number of meetings in the State Committee for Tourism, the National Aviation and Railway Companies, as well as in other relevant organizations of Uzbekistan. Currently we are working on the creation of a "road map" for further development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. It includes the creation of a special tourist package, the joint promotion of tourist routes along the Great Silk Road, the opening of charter flights Tashkent-Tamchy-Tashkent, the railway Tashkent-Balykchy-Tashkent, as well as the restoration of bus services to Issyk-Kul, etc.,” he said.
Zhamankulov also stressed the importance of developing health tourism. "In this sphere we have very great potential. Workers and employees of large manufacturing companies in Uzbekistan could restore their health in the sanatoriums and health centers of Issyk-Kul in winter. At present, we are working on this issue with the trade union of Uzbekistan," he said.
