Bishkek, June 15 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev received UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyzstan Alexander Avanesov on the occasion of completion of his mission in the country and awarded him the Dank Medal for his significant contribution to strengthening cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Nations, the Kyrgyz President’s press service reported.
During the meeting, the head of state thanked Avanesov for fruitful work in Kyrgyzstan, stressing his personal contribution to strengthening the country's cooperation with the UN and for the assistance during the period of important reforms in the country.
Atambayev and Avanesov discussed the reforms in Kyrgyzstan in key areas, including the fight against corruption, the progress of reforms in the judicial, electoral and law enforcement systems, and further development of the country's civil sector. The results of the visit of UN Secretary General Antonina Guterres to Kyrgyzstan were also discussed.
Thanking for the high award, Alexander Avanesov noted that the UNDP office in Kyrgyzstan in its work has always felt the personal support of the President of the country. "We have been able to do many things, especially in the field of peacebuilding," he said.
