Bishkek, June 11 /Kabar/. Visiting Kyrgyzstan and all Central Asian States UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev met in the Ala-Archa Residence and held talks.
After the greetings, the President Atambayev said:
"I'm glad to see you in Kyrgyzstan again, we had a good talk in Astana. It is very important for us that you participate in the big forum on the "Taza Koom" program. And your trip to the city of Osh will be successful, you will see with your own eyes what changes there have occurred in 7 years after your visit. I think that today we will have a good day".
In turn, A. Guterres noted that the efforts of the Kyrgyz authorities to promote democracy deserve respect.
Also, the UN Secretary General stressed that it is very important now that the Kyrgyz authorities continue to make every effort to settle the ethnic conflict.
The same day Mr. Guterres took part in the Conference related to the Project "Taza koom" and has said:
"When I visit different countries, and if elections are expected there, they can tell me in advance who will become the next president. But when I come to Kyrgyzstan, no one can tell me who will win the election".
During the joint press conference with the media Antonio Guterres pointed out:
"I know that important elections are taking place this year, and I am sure that Kyrgyzstan will continue to be a symbol of democracy in this region. I am confident that Kyrgyzstan will continue to play an important role in the development of the region and the integration between the countries, so that the whole region will move forward towards success. The UN will continue to support the government of Kyrgyzstan both in the implementation of the Taza Koom project and in achieving sustainable development. We think that together we can mobilize the international community to withstand climate change and preserve the beautiful glaciers of Kyrgyzstan," - said Antonio Guterres.
Later the same day UN Secretary General arrived in the city Osh and helds talks with the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov. He also plans to meet with ordinary residents of the city.
After visit of Osh city Antonio Guterres will go to Dushanbe - his last destination in his Central Asian trip.
