Bishkek, Feb. 8, 2018 / Kabar /. The trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in January-November 2017 amounted to $ 281.2 million, Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan Artem Novikov said at an expanded meeting with Minister of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshit Khodjaev.
He said that in comparison with the same period in 2016, the trade turnover between the countries increased to 1.6 times.
Export made $ 133.4 million, imports - $ 147.8 million.
The Economy Ministry recalled that previously the Presidents of the two countries reached an agreement to achieve trade turnover in 2018 to $ 250 million, and by 2020 - to $ 500 million.
"Today a large number of representatives of Kyrgyz business, interested in cooperation with the business community of Uzbekistan, gathered in the hall. It is necessary to take advantage of both sides and cooperate between business circles to increase the competitiveness of goods in foreign markets, including in Europe and China," the Kyrgyz Minister said.
Novikov noted that following the results of business forums in Bishkek and Tashkent in 2017, 115 export and import contracts worth $ 220 million were signed and agreements were reached to open joint ventures in 2018.
The Ministry of Economy informed that due to the fact that in 2018 was declared the Year of Regional Development in Kyrgyzstan, every effort is being made to increase the potential and improve the conditions for cross-border trade.
The delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Minister of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev arrived in Bishkek today. In total, the delegation consists of 25 people.
