Bishkek, Oct.11, 2019. /Kabar/. “There is need to focus on the development of joint economic projects and expansion of industrial cooperation,” Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan).
The President noted the importance of giving a new impetus to the dynamics of cooperation between the CIS countries, aimed at ensuring the growth of welfare and quality of life of the peoples, his press service said.
He also drew attention to the implementation of projects to introduce innovative achievements in the agricultural sector and logistics.
“Today, we can see a return to protectionist policies in the world. We need to reach a new level of interaction between our countries in the field of transit of goods, road and rail transportation, and expand the transport corridor. I believe that the new CIS Economic Development Strategy will become the basis for a fuller use of the CIS potential,” Jeenbekov stressed.
The President noted the need to strengthen the work on increasing the role of the CIS in addressing security issues.
The Kyrgyz leader noted Kyrgyzstan supports the appeal of the CIS heads of state in connection with the 75th anniversary of victory of Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
“Victory Day is a significant date that reminds us of the history and destiny of our peoples. I am sure that the upcoming anniversary of the Great Victory is another opportunity to honor the memory of our fathers and grandfathers who died in the fight against fascism,” he said.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov wished successes to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the period of chairmanship in the CIS in 2020, and expressed confidence that it will be effective and make a worthy contribution to the further development of cooperation within the CIS.
