Komil Allamzhonov, press secretary of Uzbekistan’s President announced on his Facebook page that an official two-day visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov to Uzbekistan is scheduled to be held on 23-24 April.
The talks of the heads of the states are scheduled to be held in Tashkent on the first day of the visit followed by the signing of bilateral documents. G. Berdymukhammedov and S. Mirziyoyev will also attend the opening ceremony of “Ashgabat park”.
It has been previously reported that the park was opened in October 2017.
Radio “Azatlyk”, with reference to a source in the Turkmen government reports that the President of Turkmenistan plans to seek funding for the TAPI pipeline construction from the President of Uzbekistan.
As “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” has previously reported the heads of the states are scheduled to head to Khorezm region of Uzbekistan where a village of Gaibul, a compact settlement of ethnic Turkmens is located. The Presidents might visit this rural settlement.
Allamzhonov made no mention of a potential visit to Turkmenistan’s northern province by the heads of the states where preparations for President Berdymukhammedov’s visit have been underway since early April.
The last visit of President Berdymukhammedov to Tashkent was held in connection with the funeral of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in September 2016.
After his inauguration President Mirziyoyev paid his first international visit to Turkmenistan in March 2017. President Berdymukhammedov presented his Uzbek counterpart with an Akhal teke horse, and the monument to President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov was opened in Turkmenabat.
As early as in May 2017 the President of Uzbekistan paid another official visit to Turkmenistan. The visit was best remembered for the Presidents’ bicycle rides, yacht sailing and the training in the gym in Avaza.
