Bishkek, Feb.6, 2018 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov received Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation of the country Nurbek Murashev, the press service of the President reported.
Priority directions in relation with implementation of the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic On the Announcement of 2018 as the Year of Regional Development were discussed at the meeting. Moreover, the agreements that were signed during the Kyrgyz President’s visits to neighboring countries were discussed as well. The Minister informed about the ongoing work to prepare for spring field work and attracted investments in the agricultural sector.
Jeenbekov stressed that opportunities for cooperation in the agricultural sector were discussed basically with all of his colleagues - the Heads of the CIS countries.
"In Uzbekistan, we discussed the possibility of removing the excise tax on imported agricultural, meat and dairy products, as well as the opening of new joint enterprises. In Tajikistan, the mechanisms of interaction on the export, import and re-export of goods were discussed, taking into account the membership of Kyrgyzstan to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and GSP + status. There is a great demand for our agricultural products, both on domestic and foreign markets, we can withstand competition. We have great opportunities to export environmentally friendly products to foreign markets, we need to intensify our efforts in this direction," the Head of State stressed.
Regarding the presidential decree On the Announcement of 2018 as the Year of Regional Development, Jeenbekov specified that one of the goals is to support small and medium-sized business initiatives in the regions, in particular processing agricultural products.
"The Ministry of Agriculture should work closely with financial institutions and local authorities to provide farmers and entrepreneurs with priviliged loans in the regions. Prepare projects for the construction of processing enterprises, help farmers and entrepreneurs in the regions. This should be our main goal,” the Kyrgyz President said.
Murashev informed that currently 344 large and medium-sized processing enterprises operate in the republic, 50 of them were launched the last three years.
"Under the President's Decree On the Announcement of 2018 as the Year of Regional Development the Ministry plans to strengthen the work on processing agricultural products in the regions, which will allow local farmers to export their products. In 2017, we received significant results - the growth rate of the processing industry was 112%, the growth of exported processed products - 126%. We began to obtain benefits from joining the EEU, " the Minister said.
The Minister also spoke about the arrival of specialists from Russian State Company Rosagromarket. Conferences for farmers will be organized on Feb 12-13, 2018 in Bishkek and Osh cities, where the Rosagromarket will participate as well. During this event the opportunities for cooperation to improve the export infrastructure of Kyrgyzstan will be discussed.
