Bishkek, July 25 / Kabar /. Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Chynybai Tursunbekov received US Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Sheila Gwaltney on the occasion of the completion of her diplomatic mission, the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh reported.
Tursunbekov noted Sheila Gwaltney's great personal contribution to strengthening relations between Kyrgyzstan and the United States. "You as the Ambassador contributed to a worthy continuation of the 26-year friendly relations between the two nations. You were at the head of a number of important events, helped to implement projects aimed at democratic renewal of Kyrgyzstan. I especially want to express my gratitude for your close cooperation with the Jogorku Kenesh," he said.
The Speaker also told about the issue of democratic achievements of the country and the Development Strategy of the Jogorku Kenesh until 2021.
In turn, Gwaltney expressed joy and pride that she worked in a country that differs in achievements in democracy and has a hospitable people. "The United States is interested in developing partnership with Kyrgyzstan. We want to see this country democratically developed, "she said.
The ambassador also added that over the years of independence, Kyrgyzstan has received more than $ 2 billion from the US in the form of assistance. She expressed her confidence that the established ties in various areas of life will continue.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed issues of international security, talked about the need to jointly combat manifestations of terrorism and extremism.
Sheila Gwaltney was appointed as the Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan in August 2015.
