Bishkek, Oct.5, 2019. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Dastanbek Dzhumabekov received Ambassador of Latvia to Kyrgyzstan Jurijs Pogrebnyak.
Dastanbek Dzhumabekov stressed that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to strengthening and activating bilateral cooperation with Latvia in all areas of mutual interest, particularly in the fields of economics, culture and tourism, the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Speaker Dzhumabekov noted the two countries need to develop inter-parliamentary relations and trade and economic cooperation. He said Kyrgyzstan has a good investment legal framework in place. Dzhumabekov also noted that the Kyrgyz Republic is interested in obtaining logistics services through Latvian ports and transport infrastructures for the export and import of goods from/to the Kyrgyz Republic, including the use of the status of GSP+.
Ambassador Jurijs Pogrebnyak thanked Dzhumabekov for a warm welcome. He said that over the past two years, the political dialogue between the two countries has been stepped up, as well as the dialogues at the level of foreign ministers of the two countries have been carried out.
The ambassador also said that a delegation from the Jogorku Kenesh, headed by Dzhumabekov, is looking forward to the visit in Latvia, and the agenda of the visit will be full and interesting.
He added the Latvian parliamentary corps is committed to dialogue with its colleagues from the Jogorku Kenesh and to exchanging experience in the field of parliamentarianism. Pogrebnyak said that in the future, trade and economic relations may become a good component of co-operation between Kyrgyzstan and Latvia.
