Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan makes speech in Davos

Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2018 / Kabar /. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos (Switzerland) made a speech at the session Growth and Development, the press service of the Government reported.

The session was attended by: US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, Minister of Finance and State Loans of Colombia Mauricio Cardenas, Chief Operating Officer of the International Finance Corporation Stephanie von Friedeburg Washington, Minister of Railways of India Piyush Goyal, Mexican Minister of Economy Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, South Africa's Minister of Economic Development Ebrahim Patel, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Hiroshige Seko, Vice Chairman of Huawei Ken Hu and Heads of the largest telecommunications, Holding Companies and Financial Institutions, such as the Association of GSM-operators, AT & t, SAP, Turkcell.

The session participants discussed the role of technological development, access to Internet, the impact of modern technologies to the level of development and measures that can ensure sustainable innovative development and issues of entrepreneurship development as well.

The participants stressed that if before there were problems with the level of Internet coverage, after active development of mobile Internet standards 3G and 4G, today there is a new issue of rational use of Internet, which by itself implies the need to provide skills and take certain measures.

President of Sinovation Ventures, a famous businessman Kai- Fu Lee, emphasized the need to ensure sustainable development and take necessary measures for this.

Kai- Fu Lee said that previously Broad Band Internet played the role of a catalyst for economic growth, now emphasis should be placed on artificial intelligence. He stressed that the Fund, managing $ 3 bln USD intends to provide skills in the use of artificial intelligence and to revise of training standards and programs for teaching of more than 3 thousand universities and colleges around the world.

During the session, World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim specified the importance of developing skills and entrepreneurship in the digital economy. He said that it is also important to monitor the technology when building infrastructure projects by taking into account the speed of technological change.

Prime Minister Isakov spoke about how innovative technologies like the Smart City, created to reduce the level of victims on Kyrgyzstan’s roads, can improve the lives of ordinary people.

"Modern technologies also contribute to work on reducing the level of corruption. Thus, open data projects within the framework of the Open Government Partnership will make most of the data open, which will allow the business to develop its companies, increase the level of openness and transparency. Moreover, active participation of the private sector is one of the main factors for successful development of digitalization. The state should not implement all projects independently. The private sector should be involved in this process as well. This will ensure the successful implementation of technological projects," Isakov said.
