Bishkek, Feb.22, 2018 / Kabar /. President Sooronbay Jeenbekov accepted Chairman of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes (SSCEC) under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic Zamirbek Osmonov today, the press service of the President's Office of Kyrgyzstan reported.
SSCEC’s measures and tasks for countering corruption and identified decisions of the Security Council from Feb. 8, 2018 were discussed at the meeting.
The Head of State stressed that the Financial Police was tasked with counteracting economic crime, but an analysis of the results of their activities shows a serious lack of measures taken both by the leadership of the SSCEC and Financial Police.
"There are facts when criminal cases are opened in order to exert pressure on entrepreneurs and extort money from them. Complaints by citizens and honest entrepreneurs are not stopped on unlawful actions of the employees of the state agencies. There are also facts when the employees of state authorities are becoming the so-called "protection racket" of dishonest representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, "Jeenbekov stressed.
The President specified the insufficient work of the Financial Police to counteract the production and sale of counterfeit alcohol products, the detection of underground gambling establishments, the suppression of smuggling of fuel and lubricants in the regions of the republic and thus he demanded to strengthen work in these areas.
The Head of State also emphasized the need to concentrate the main activities of the Financial Police on identifying and suppressing economic, official and corruption crimes, eliminating corruption schemes in the economic sphere and the public sector.
