President of Kyrgyzstan meets with Speaker of Turkish Parliament

Ankara, Apr. 10, 2018. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Ismail Kahraman.

The meeting was held on Apr. 10, within the framework of the two-day official visit of the Kyrgyz President to Ankara.

The Turkish Speaker warmly greeted Sooronbay Jeenbekov and said that the Turkish side was waiting for him and accepted him as a brother.

"Turkey will continue to strengthen cooperation with and support Kyrgyzstan. Interparliamentary cooperation plays a special role in deepening the relations between our countries. Soon we are also looking forward visit of Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Dastan Dzhumabekov," Ismail Kahraman said.

He said that the potential in the trade relations between the two countries is not fully disclosed and the sides have the opportunity to increase the turnover up to $ 1 billion per year.

Touching upon the sphere of education, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament stated that the Turkish side will continue to provide scholarships for Kyrgyz students.

Also, Ismail Kahraman noted with satisfaction that a bust of Kyrgyz outstanding writer Chyngyz Aitmatov was opened in Ankara, where Sooronbay Jeenbekov laid flowers today.

"Chyngyz Aitmatov is loved and read in Turkey, his works are the common heritage of the Turkic world. We are glad that a number of events will be held in Turkey within the year of Aitmatov, announced by TURKSOY in honor of the writer's 90th birthday," Kahraman said.

He stressed that Turkey supports all initiatives and activities aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries and peoples, wished success to President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, and the people of Kyrgyzstan prosperity.
