Bishkek, Feb. 21 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev received a delegation of the European Parliament headed by Chairman of the European Parliament delegation for cooperation with Central Asia and Mongolia Iveta Grigule, the press service of the President reports.
During the meeting the sides discussed issues of further cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union on the key areas of cooperation. The sides also discussed the political and economic reforms and democratic changes that have been implemented in Kyrgyzstan in recent years, including changes to the Constitution of the republic.
Also the results of Atambayev's visit to Belgium and Germany with a visit to the European Union Institutions have been discussed. The President said that he had found understanding and support among European leaders and expressed confidence in further enhancing cooperation with European partners.
In addition, Atambayev discussed with members of the European Parliament delegation preparation for the upcoming presidential elections this year.
Iveta Grigule on behalf of the members of the EP delegation expressed sincere appreciation for the opportunity to meet with the President of the country, who shares European values.
