Bishkek, May 9 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev congratulated veterans of the Great Patriotic War and workers of the rear on the Victory Day.
During the meeting-requiem, dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which was held on Victory Square in Bishkek, the head of state honored the memory of the fallen in the Second World War, laying a wreath at the Eternal Flame.
During his speech, the head of state wished all veterans health and longevity and said that in the history of our country there are events that we will always remember. “They are not forgotten and live in our hearts forever,” he said.
Atambayev recalled that our republic supplied the front with ammunition, food and clothing, and the defense industry - the most important strategic raw materials.
Also, Atambayev recalled that the natives of Kyrgyzstan made up the backbone of the 316th Infantry Division, which, for its display of courage and heroism in battles near Moscow, was transformed into the 8th Guards Shooting Division named after Panfilov.
"For the fortitude, courage, heroism and bravery shown in the battles against the invaders, over 150 thousand fighters and commanders from Kyrgyzstan were awarded orders and medals, 74 Kyrgyz people awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and 22 of our countrymen became holders of the Order "Glory". During the Great Patriotic War almost every adult male of Kyrgyzstan was recruited to the war. More than a third of them did not return from the war, remained forever on the fields of war. They died defending Russian cities and villages, freeing the territories of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus captured by the fascists," he added.
In addition, the President of the country emphasized that during the war years hundreds of thousands of evacuees from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, as well as deported citizens, found shelter and care in the homes of Kyrgyz citizens.
"Fascism was defeated thanks to the joint efforts of many peoples of the world. Thanks to the actions of the anti-Hitler coalition, which included 58 countries. But first of all, of course, thanks to the courage and heroism of the peoples of the 15 republics of the Soviet Union, their cohesion and military brotherhood," Atambayev said.
