Bishkek, Feb.5, 2018 / Kabar /. To date according to official data, there are more than 57 thousand people suffering from diabetes mellitus in Kyrgyzstan. However, the number of people suffering from diabetes can reach 180,000 in our country, Childhood Without Diabetes Public Association reported.
"This chronic disease leads to severe complications, early disability and premature mortality. There are a number of problems and challenges, such as the lack of mechanisms for implementing the Law on Diabetes in Kyrgyzstan, the acute shortage of skilled personnel in the treatment and management of diabetes, as well as the lack of effective inter-hospital cooperation in matters relating to the disease," experts say.
Among the adult population type 2 of diabetes is predominant, while among children, type 1 of diabetes predominates.
"As a result of constant work and promote interests of patients with diabetes, the Association enlisted the support of the World Diabetes Foundation in implementing A Better Future for Our Children for 2016-2018 project . We hope that our activity together with international donors and state authorities will develop in future," Nurkhan Jumabaeva, the Head of the Children's Without Diabetes NGO stressed.
