Kyrgyz shyrdagy festival in Naryn

Bishkek, June 30 / Kabar /. More than 2 thousand hand-made carpets were exhibited at Kyrgyz shyrdagy festival in Naryn oblast, the organizers of the festival reported.

The 7th international festival Kyrgyz Shyrdagy was held in At-Bashi region of Naryn oblast from June 28 to 29, with the participation of representatives of the United States, China, Kazakhstan, Germany, Poland and New Zealand, and participants from all regions of Kyrgyzstan.

The opening of the festival was attended by Minister of Culture of Kyrgyzstan Tugolbai Kazakov, governor of Naryn oblast Amanbai Kaiypov.

A theatrical performance was shown. Besides, contest among girls with long hair was held.

Shyrdak is a Kyrgyz national felt carpet with patterns consisting of large contrasting flowers. Shyrdak is one of the most complicated in the manufacture of felt products.
