Militant detained in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Dec. 11, 2017. /Kabar/. A militant of an international terrorist organization has been detained in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

On Dec. 6, 2017, the State National Security Committee detained a militant of the international terrorist organization, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic as part of the ongoing counter-terrorism activities aimed at identifying and suppressing attempts to penetrate the territory of Kyrgyzstan for the purpose of preparing and organizing terrorist actions aimed at destabilizing the situation in Kyrgyzstan.

It was found out that the detainee from November 2016 to September 2017 was a members of the international terrorist organization, where he took an active part in military operations against Syrian government troops.

On the instructions of his leaders, the detainee arrived in Kyrgyzstan to create a terrorist underground and form new channels for recruiting militants from Kyrgyzstan to Syria.

At present, the investigative bodies of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic initiated criminal proceedings for participation in military conflicts or military actions on the territory of a foreign state.

The detainee is placed in the jail.

The investigation is under way.
