Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2019 / Kabar /. The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kyrgyzstan spoke about the estimated costs of the 2020 parliamentary elections.
The CEC press service, referring to data of the Ministry of Finance, reported that 1 billion 214.3 million soms are allocated in the draft republican budget for 2020.
In 2015, actual expenses for the parliamentary elections, taking into account the use of the biometric database of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, amounted to KGS 944.5.
In 2017, actual expenses for the presidential elections amounted to KGS 724.7 million.
A significant increase in the cost of elections in 2015 and subsequent years compared with the previous elections is due to expenses on the development and application of the biometric database of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the election process, taking into account the costs of the purchase of biometric equipment, automatically reading ballot boxes, training operators to work with this equipment, transporting equipment to polling stations of the republic and payment for work of operators, IT-specialists for the election period.
