Bishkek, Sept. 13, 2017 / Kabar /. The patrol police of Kyrgyzstan intend to ban the use of right-hand drive vehicles for commercial purposes since January 1, 2018, deputy chief of Central department of patrol police Imanaly Sarkulov told at a press conference at Kabar Agency.
He said that, according to data of the State Registration Service, 16% of the total number of cars in Kyrgyzstan are cars with the right hand drive. “More than 30% of accidents from the total number of accidents occur with the participation of right-hand drive vehicles," he said.
He said that the rules on banning the use of right-hand drive cars for commercial purposes were to enter into force in 2020.
From his part, the head of the Department for Coordinating Control over the Activity of the Patrol Police Nur Satybaldiev added that such measures are necessary in connection with the analysis of road accidents. In addition, for non-compliance with this law, he proposed to fine the drivers.
