Bishkek, March 25 / Kabar /. The 61st session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women was held at the UN Headquarters in New York on March 13 - 24.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that, the priority topic for the work of the Commission was "Women's Economic Empowerment in the Changing World of Work".
In the course of the work of the Commission, the implementation of the outcome document of the IV World Women's Conference and the XXIII Special Session of the UN General Assembly, an assessment of the situation with women's economic empowerment, obstacles and achievements in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals were discussed.
Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN, M. Moldoisaeva, during the plenary session of the Commission, spoke about the work carried out by Kyrgyzstan to promote gender equality, especially in the development of legislation and policy, increasing the representation of women in public and political life of the state and their more active participation at the decision-making level in central and local authorities.
Member of Kyrgyz Parliament Ainuru Altybaeva, who participates in the work of the Commission, represented Kyrgyzstan at the event of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. In her comments, Altybayeva shared information about parliamentary control over the reform of law enforcement and security bodies, the Forum of Women Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh and about the achievements of women-police in reforming law enforcement agencies. The MP noted the importance of an integrated approach to security sector reform and the role of the women's association in this process.
