Bishkek, Jan. 16, 2018 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan intends to obtain from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) loan of $ 7.2 million and $ 3.9 million grant for replacement of 13 pumping stations and reconstruction of heat supply system for houses of Bishkek, chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Mineral Resources Ulanbek Ryskulov said at a meeting of the Parliament's committee for fuel and energy.
"$ 7.2 million is received as a loan for 15 years at 1% per annum and $ 3.9 million is in the form of a grant. In total, 13 pumping stations will be replaced. Moreover the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system will be launched. These stations have not been replaced for 30 years," he explained.
The deputies also were interested if the Bishkek Heat Supply System could repay its loan.
Deputy Chairman of the Bishkek Heat Supply System Uran Raimbekov answered that the company does have such opportunities. "We still have a loan from the World Bank for $ 32 million. Nevertheless, we can pay, we conducted a financial analysis and calculated all the expenses," he said.
New pumping pipes, according to officials are necessary in order to connect more consumers as Bishkek is growing.
The Committee considered the issue of ratification of the Credit Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EBRD on reconstruction and construction of the Pumping Stations Project and herein the Grant Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EBRD. After the discussion, the deputies supported the ratification in the second reading.
