Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation briefing takes place at Kyrgyz Embassy in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Dec. 27, 2017 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz Ambassador to Uzbekistan Daniyar Sydykovbriefed today representatives of foreign and Uzbek mass media on Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation for 2017 and the prospects for its development in 2018, a correspondent of Kabar News Agency reported.

The Ambassador stressed that 2017 year has truly become momentous and historic for Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations. The state visits of presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Almazbek Atambayev to Bishkek and Tashkent, as well as official visit of current Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Zheenbekov to Uzbekistan have become significant results of the year.

"The heads of two countries met six times in one year. Such meetings allowed the sides to regularly carry out a "cross checking hours" on many key issues of bilateral cooperation, discuss and promote the process of delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border," Sydykov said.

The Ambassador described in detail the essence and significance of such historic documents signed within the framework of state visits. They are: Treaty on the State Border and the Declaration on Strategic Partnership, Strengthening of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Confidence, the Agreement on Border and Military Cooperation. "Signing the Treaty on the state border, achieving full mutual understanding in the construction of Kambar-Ata hydroelectric power plant (HPP-1) and the railway "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan", all this has become possible due to the political will of the heads of state," he stressed.

A special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of trade and economics between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. For the period of 2017, agreements, contracts and memorandums for a total sum more than $ 600 million were concluded between representatives of business circles of two countries.

The mass media representatives were also informed about the development of cooperation in specific areas of public life, tourism, border areas, interdepartmental organizations, cultural, humanitarian and people's diplomacy.

Within the framework of the event, the most distinguished foreign and Uzbek journalists ,who covered strong cooperation and friendship between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, were rewarded. Among the awardees was a reporter from Kabar News Agency in Uzbekistan as well.
