Bishkek, Oct. 3, 2017 /Kabar/. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov met with director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Central Asia Neil McCain.
During the meeting the implementation of joint projects and prospects for further cooperation were discussed.
The head of government expressed gratitude to the EBRD for the support rendered to Kyrgyzstan, and stressed its effectiveness.
Sapar Isakov stressed that the most priority areas of cooperation between the Government and international development partners within the framework of the governmental program "Forty steps to a new era” is the implementation of the Taza Koom digital transformation project and the Taza suu project to provide access to clean drinking water and the project on the introduction of new irrigated lands "Development of irrigation".
In addition, the head of government noted the importance of urban infrastructure development and proposed to consider the issue of joint cooperation in the implementation of the "Smart City" project in the cities of Bishkek and Osh. Also during the meeting the sides discussed issues on the development of small and medium business in the country, as well as measures to improve the public transport in major cities of the country.
At the same time, Isakov and McCain discussed the current results of Kyrgyzstan’s participation in the Climate Resilience Pilot Program of the Investment Climate Fund. The Prime Minister expressed the Government's interest in joint implementation of the project on the establishment of the Climate Finance Center, as well as its speedy launch within the framework of this Program.
EBRD Director for Central Asia Neil McCain expressed readiness for further mutually beneficial cooperation with the Government of the country. In addition, during the meeting an agreement was reached on drawing up a list of priority projects for joint implementation. He also said that all the issues raised will be considered by the EBRD management in the near future.
