Bishkek, Jan. 17, 2018 / Kabar /. The delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh consisting of deputies of Parhat Tulendybaev and Muzaffar Isakov is taking part in 13th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) in Tehran, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported.
The session was officially opened by President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani and Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Council (Parliament) Ali Larijani.
In connection with the expiration of the term of office, Erol Kilic (Turkey) completed his mission as the general secretary of the PUIC. According to the principle of regional rotation of candidates for the post of General Secretary, the right to nominate was granted to the African Group (three geographical groups, the other two - the Asian group, which includes Kyrgyzstan and the African one). As a result of internal negotiations in the group, a single candidate was nominated - Senegal. Thus, the representative of Senegal was appointed to the post of Secretary General without a vote.
From the Asian Group, Kyrgyz MPs Parhat Tulendybaev and Muzaffar Isakov were elected members of the Standing Committee of the PUICon Economic Affairs and the Environment and the Standing Committee of the PUIC on Culture, Legal Issues and Dialogue of Civilizations and Religions respectively.
Following the session, the adoption of the Tehran Declaration, the resolution and the final communiqué is expected.
During their stay in Tehran, deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh visited the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Iran, where they met with Ambassador Avazbek Abdrazakov, got acquainted with the activities of the diplomatic mission and discussed a number of issues on enhancing the Kyrgyz-Iranian cooperation.
