Kyrgyz Parliament holds extraordinary meeting

BISHKEK, Aug. 25, 2017 / Kabar /. An extraordinary meeting of the Kyrgyz Parliament kicked off in Bishkek to elect a new prime minister of the country and approve government members.

Speaker of the Parliament Chynybai Tursunbekov said that Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Zheenbekov resigned.

"I received an appeal from President Almazbek Atambayev to form of a new Cabinet,” he said.

According to the Constitution, a coalition of the majority or a faction of more than half of the number of deputies offers a candidate for the post of prime minister.

But, the speaker declared a break, so that the coalition had the opportunity to consider the candidate in the committees.

Kyrgyz Prime Minister Zheenbekov resigned due to his participation in presidential elections to be held on October 15, 2017
