Kyrgyzstan to toughen punishment for violation of traffic rules

Bishkek, Jan. 19, 2018 / Kabar /. The Ministry of Interior Affairs intends to toughen the punishment for those who violate the rules on the road, This became known at the meeting of the parliamentary faction Respublika-Ata-Jurt.

Today members of the faction worked on problems of ensuring safety on the roads and implementation of the government resolution On approval of Action Plan for implementation of a set of measures to reform the road safety system.

Deputy Interior Minister Kursan Asanov said that 19 amendments to the Code on Administrative Responsibility will be proposed to Parliament aimed at toughening penalties for different violations of traffic rules.

During discussion of the situation, the deputies touched upon various problems. Thus, most of the parliamentarians questioned the effectiveness of newly created structure of Securing Road Safety Main Administration (SRSMA) under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The head of the SRSMA Kanat Djumagaziev told about measures being taken aimed at ensuring road safety.

"Seminars are held to improve skills of employees, an Internet site is opened, daily more than 200 messages are received through Whatsapp hotline on traffic violations and accidents. Moreover starting from Jan. 9, towing of improperly parked cars on the roads of the capital started," Djumagaziev stressed.
