Bishkek, Jan. 18, 2018 / Kabar /. On the eve, the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev met with the Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Achim Steiner in New York, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Within the framework of the meeting, Minister Abdyldaev presented information on the results of the presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan and summarized results of cooperation with the UN system for 2017, which coincides with 25th anniversary of the country's membership in the Organization. The UNDP Administrator was also informed about the start of the United National Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF)’s new cycle implementation for the period of 2018-2022.
Whereas, the UNDP Administrator expressed his support for the work carried out jointly with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the UN system and assured that UNDP is ready to continue providing all possible assistance to Kyrgyzstan in order to ensure sustainable development of the country.
During the meeting, the project on Trans boundary Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to achieve Sustainable Peace and Development was also discussed, funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund and implemented by the UNDP Offices in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan, in particular on the section of the water channel Kayirma.
At the end of the meeting, Abdyldaev invited the UN Adminstrator to attend the opening ceremony of the Third World Nomad Games that will take place in Kyrgyzstan.
