Kyrgyz film "Joo Kyuluk" wins prize of international film critics

Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2019 / Kabar /. Mirlan Abdykalykov’s film “Joo Kyuluk” (Fast runner) won the prize of international film critics FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) at the Busan Film Festival, producer Altynai Koichumanova told.

The festival was held on Oct. 3-12 in Busan (South Korea).

The FIPRESCI jury announced the prize with the following wording: "For a delicate portrait of a struggling country through the eyes of a boy running to overcome all obstacles."

FIPRESCI is one of the most important awards in author's cinema and prestigious in the world of cinematography. At various times, world-famous directors such as Emir Kusturica, Andrei Tarkovsky, Francis Ford Coppola, Roman Polanski, Michelangelo Antonioni and Wim Wenders became laureates of the award.
