BISHKEK, Aug. 8, 2017 /Kabar/. Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Japan Chingiz Aidarbekov paid a working visit to Hiroshima Prefecture on Aug. 4-6, 2017, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Within the framework of the trip meetings were held with Governor of the prefecture Hidehiko Yudzaki and Mayor of Hiroshima Kazumi Matsui.
During the meeting with the governor, the sides discussed opportunities for expanding business ties at the level of private companies. The head of the prefecture of Hiroshima expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic on a wide range of issues and asked to conduct investment seminar for Japanese companies located in Hiroshima in the near future. He also assured that the administration of the prefecture will provide with all possible assistance.
In turn, Aidarbekov drew attention to the developing economic ties with the Japanese business, showing interest in the market of Kyrgyzstan. He also noted that in 2006 the Kyrgyz Republic signed the Treaty on the Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia, which came into force in 2009. Mayor of Hiroshima Kazumi Matsui called for to increase the number of cities in Kyrgyzstan that joined this initiative. He highly appreciated the fact that the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, the city of Bishkek, has already joined this initiative.
The Hiroshima Mayor drew attention to the relevance of international efforts in the field of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
During the meetings the sides also discussed the prospects for cooperation in the sphere of culture and sports, particularly, the importance of cooperation in the field of sports in the run-up to the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.
Aidarbekov also met with the management of companies, whose headquarters are located in the city of Hiroshima. During the meeting, prospects of their cooperation with Kyrgyz companies in the construction industry were discussed. The sides agreed to continue the dialogue and coordinate efforts to establish cooperation.
