Bishkek, March 14. 2018. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov will fly tomorrow to Astana, where he takes part in the first Summit of Central Asian leaders - Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
Chief of the foreign policy department of the Kyrgyz President’s Office Daniyar Sydykov told reporters about Jeenbekov's foreign trip during the briefing in Bishkek.
He told that a broad exchange of views on many regional issues will take place at this summit, and one of the main objectives is to consolidate such consultative meetings on an ongoing basis.
"Tomorrow, March 15, at the invitation of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, our President Sooronbai Sharipovich will take part in the first working (consultative) meeting of the heads of the five states of Central Asia in Astana. At this meeting, an exchange of views on many topical and problematic issues of the regional agenda will take place," Sydykov said.
He noted that the initiator of the forthcoming meeting is president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The main objectives of the consultative meeting are the exchange of views on the most pressing issues of international and regional development, as well as coordinating the positions of the countries of the region and finding common points of contact.
"All this is aimed at strengthening the political dialogue, as well as for further development of political-diplomatic, trade-economic, financial-investment, transport and communication, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation," he said.
The summit of the heads of state of Central Asia is planned to be held at least once a year on the eve of major regional events and other political events on a rotational basis according to the alphabetical order of the names of the countries in the region. This year he will be on the eve of the Nooruz holiday.
