Bishkek, Feb. 7, 2018. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov today received chairman of the State Committee of Industry, Energy and Mineral Resources Ulanbek Ryskulov.
The current situation in the industrial and energy sectors of the country and prospects for their development were discussed at the meeting, the President’s press service reported.
Jeenbekov noted the importance of the mining industry in the economic life of the country. "The mining industry is one of the main budget-forming sectors of the country's economy, provides the population with jobs. The funds coming from the mining sector are used to finance the social sector, the development of the local community," President Jeenbekov said. He stressed that the politicization of issues related to the activities of mining companies is absolutely unacceptable.
"The mining industry should promote the development of small towns and villages, as well as securing labor resources on the ground," he added.
Touching upon the investment policy in this area, the President noted the importance of creating favorable conditions for investors and clear monitoring of the fulfillment of their obligations.
"Only environmental experts can determine observance of environmental safety standards by mining companies. Do not politicize this issue. If it is proved that the activities of the mining company will not meet the requirements of the legislation of the republic, it will harm the ecological safety, then such projects should not be implemented on the territory of the country. The national wealth of Kyrgyzstan should be used in the interests of the country in compliance with all environmental standards. "
Ryskulov spoke about the prospects of expanding geological exploration, licensing and holding open auctions and tenders for the right to use subsoil assets in the country.
He informed about the beginning of the development of the Program of Sustainable Industrial Development of the Republic for the period 2018-2023, which corresponds to the main objectives of the Presidential Decree "On the Announcement of 2018 as the Year of Regional Development". The program is aimed at creating the necessary measures to create conditions for the development of industry in the regions.
Chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Mineral Resources also said that nine gold ore deposits are currently being developed in Kyrgyzstan, and another five are planned to be commissioned.
Jeenbekov recommended speeding up the pace of introduction of new industrial facilities mainly in the regions, including with the development of the possibility of switching to digital technologies for integration into the world economic community.
