International Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Forum officially starts in Bishkek

BISHKEK, Aug. 25, 2017 / Kabar /. The International Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Forum officially has started in Bishkek.

The large-scale event is held at Ala- Archa state residence with the participation Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev and the representatives of the international organizations of 12 countries Snow leopard habitat.

The Kyrgyz President’s speech and a video message of UN Secretary-General António Guterres is expecting at the official part of the forum. Besides, official representatives of Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Bhutan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Nepal, Mongolia, India and Turkmenistan will deliver speeches. The moderator of the forum is deputy head of the President’s Office Elvira Sarieva.

The second part of the forum will consist of two sessions, during of which the representatives of the international organizations and business community will present preservation of the environment projects as part of the implementation of GSLEP Global program.

The forum will be resulted in adoption of the Bishkek declaration preserving Snow Leopard and summing the results.

For reference: Global Snow Leopard Ecosystem Protection(GSLEP) program aims to address these high-mountain environmental problems by preserving the population of charismatic and endangered snow leopards as the main representative of these ecosystems.

It is an integrated, collaborative, large-scale initiative that units the governments of the respective countries non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations, local communities and the private sector with aim of the protection snow leopard’s population and their priceless ecosystems.
