Bishkek, Feb. 27, 2018 / Kabar /. The first meeting of Subcommittee on Development within the framework of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union was held in Bishkek. The Kyrgyz delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nurlan Abdrakhmanov.
The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic included representatives of the Government, Ministries and Agencies. The EU delegation was led by Boris Yaroshevich, Managing Director of the Central Asia Department of the European External Action Service (EEAS). The EU delegation included representatives of the EEAS, the European Commission and the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic.
The agenda of the meeting included issues of implementing EU programs in priority areas of cooperation: education, integrated development of rural regions, reforms in social protection field, the rule of law and reforms in the electoral system of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In addition, during the meeting, special attention was paid to discussing the priorities of the Kyrgyz Government: the Forty Steps to New Era and Taza Koom programs. The sides also discussed issues of regional cooperation of the EU with the countries of Central Asia: economic cooperation, security cooperation (BOMCA, CADAP, EU-ACT) and environmental protection.
Following the meeting, the sides stressed the need for further joint monitoring, analysis of implemented EU programs and projects in the Kyrgyz Republic with a purpose of improving their effectiveness.
