Bishkek, Oct.24, 2019. /Kabar/. Electric Power Plants OJSC named the reason for the reduction of water volume at the Toktogul HPP, Technical Director of the OJSC Taalaibek Bektenov told reporters at Kabar News Agency.
He said the Toktogul HPP generates about 30-35% of the country's electricity. The equipment is outdated, and rehabilitation work has begun in the energy sector. By the way, works are planned to be completed fully by Nov. 10, 2019.
Director Bektenov noted during the implementation of the project, about $100 million was saved, and it was decided to allocate these funds for the rehabilitation of the Uch-Kurgan HPP.
“To prevent further problems with energy shortages, work is underway to attract electricity from outside,” he said.
Bektenov noted the reduction of water at the Toktogul HPP is an annual recurring cycle, and now the inflow has declined due to the season of the year.
