Bishkek, Oct.17, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s parliament delegation, headed by Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, held a number of meetings in Vilnius as part of the official visit to Lithuania.
During the meeting with Chairman of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktoras Pranckietis, the sides discussed the issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, harmonization of legislation, exchange of experience within the framework of parliamentary friendship groups, the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh reported.
Besides, an exchange of views on the development of cooperation in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres took place. The Kyrgyz side also provided detailed information on the parliamentary system of Kyrgyzstan and efforts to develop it.
“Lithuania and Kyrgyzstan share a similar political system. The focus is on human rights and democratic values. At the same time, our countries have always supported each other on various international platforms. We are interested in bringing our bilateral cooperation to a new level,” Dzhumabekov said.
"Speaking of trade and economic relations, Lithuania is ready to consider all the proposals of Kyrgyzstan. Our railway connects us with many countries, and through the Lithuanian seaport it is possible to establish communication with 65 seaports of the world,” Pranckietis said.
During the official visit, a number of cultural events are also planned. In particular, Kyrgyz MPs visited Vilnius University, where they got acquainted with the history, reforms and achievements in the modern educational system.
Note that delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh has arrived in Lithuania from Latvia, where it had previously also paid an official visit.
The parliamentary delegation includes Almambet Shykmamatov, Dinara Isayeva, Gulshat Asylbayeva, Omurbek Bakirov, Janybek Isayev and Bakirdin Subanbekov.
