Bishkek, Dec. 19, 2017 / Kabar /. The Kyrgyz epic “Manas” was translated into Turkish. The translation was based on the version of the famous narrator Sagymbay Orozbakov. The official presentation ceremony took place at the Kyrgyz-Turkish University "Manas" in Bishkek.
The congratulatory speech at the event was made by the head of the Presidential Administration Department of Ethnic, Religious Policy and Interaction with Civil Society, Mira Karybaeva.
She stressed that the epic is published in three volumes; it can be read both in Kyrgyz and Turkish. It was published according to the legendary narrator Sagymbay Orozbakov, who would have turned to 150 years old this year.
The epic "Manas" is a heroic asset of Kyrgyz people that made a huge contribution to the treasury of world culture", said Karybaeva. She recalled that the epic "Manas" was included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO in 2014.
On the first page of the book one can read the words of former President Almazbek Atambayev: Dear readers! "Manas" is a heroic epic of Kyrgyz people and made a significant contribution to the treasury of world culture. Our ancestors preserved the spiritual wealth of Manas the Magnanimous and passed it to their descendants. The epic reflects the centuries-old culture of Kyrgyz people, its traditions and customs.
The translation of 1840-page book of epic “ Manas” according to the version of narrator of Sagymbay Orozbakov from Kyrgyz into Turkish was started in early 2016 by the initiative and support of Almazbek Atambayev.
The book’s work of translation, editing and publishing took more than a year. The translated version is a three-volume and consists of 3,700 pages of printed text.
To date, 4,5 thousand copies of the book have been printed with the support of the Union of Communities of Turkic-speaking World (UCTW) and personally by the Secretary General of the organization Mr. Fakhri Solak. It was also decided to place the book in PDF format in free access on the web site of UCTW.
The project was coordinated by T. Koenaliev, Renat Tuleberdiev, doctor Fakhri Solak. Editor: Najie Ata Yildiz. Translators into Turkish: Abdrasul Isakov, Bakyt Sagynbekov, Guldana Bargybai, Ibrahim Turkhan and Mirlanbek Nurmatov.
The epic "Manas" was also translated into Russian, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Farsi and a number of other languages.
