Bishkek, June 28 / Kabar /. The Central Asian Subregional Conference of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) entitled "Addressing the Challenges of the Vulnerable Population in Central Asia" has started its work in Bishkek, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported.
The deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, headed by Speaker Chynybai Tursunbekov, as well as parliamentarians of Albania, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Maldives, Nepal, Philippines, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Sri Lanka take part in its work.
At the beginning of the conference, Kyrgyz Speaker Tursunbekov, head of the President’s Office Sapar Isakov, Vice Prime Minister Cholpon Sultanbekova delivered welcoming speeches.
AFPPD Executive Director Mika Marumoto in her opening speech spoke about the goals and program of the conference.
The conference will last two days. The representatives of international organizations, who deliver speeches, will speak about access to quality medical care for women, young people and the elderly, active aging, gender equality, women's empowerment.
