Bishkek, Sept. 21, 2017 / Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev met with Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres on September 20 as part of his participation in the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, the presidential press service reported.
Before the beginning of the meeting, President Atambayev wrote a note in the book of honorable guests to the UN headquarters.
Also, President Almazbek Atambayev awarded Secretary General of the United Nations António Guterres with the Dostuk Order for his significant contribution to strengthening cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Nations.
The Kyrgyz President thanked the UN system and personally the Secretary General for the support provided to the country.
Antonio Guterres remembered with warmth his visit to Kyrgyzstan, noting that the UN highly appreciates relations with the country, which is an important partner of the United Nations and in many aspects - an example for many countries of the world. The UN Secretary-General noted such initiatives of the country as the World Snow Leopard Conservation Forum and the National Taza Koom Program of Digital Transformation.
During the meeting, issues of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UN system were discussed.
