"Asia+": Japan government supports 14 new GGP projects in Tajikistan

"Asia+": The Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe held a grant signing ceremony for 14 new projects under Japan’s scheme of “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)”.

The grant contracts were signed by Mr. Hajime Kitaoka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tajikistan, and the representatives of the beneficiary organizations.

According to Japan’s Embassy, total amount of the provided grants is USD 957,387.

The new GGP projects signed are:

- The Project for Renovation of School No.8 in Mehnatobod Village, Ghallaobod Jamoat, Khuroson District, signed with Mr. Rahmatullo Safarzoda, Chairperson of Khuroson District for the amount of USD 82,154;

- The Project for Construction of School No.29 in Khojabulbulon Village, Esanboy Jamoat, Roudaki District, signed with Mr. Yusufi Muhammadrahim, Chairperson of Roudaki District for the amount of USD 83,026;

- The Project for Provision of Equipment for Vocational Training Center for People with Disabilities in Shahrinav District, signed with Mr. Nusratullo Ayubzoda, Chairperson of Shahrinav District for the amount of USD 8,923;

- The Project for Rehabilitation of the Central Clinic in Shahriston District, signed with Mr. Umar Yoqubzoda, Chairperson of Shahriston District for the amount of USD 82,600;

- The Project for Renovation of School No. 18 in Shurmashk Village, Fondaryo Jamoat, Ayni District, signed with Mr. Nematullo Rahmatullozoda, Chairperson of Ayni District for the amount of USD 56,875;

- The Project for Construction of Rehabilitation Center for Children with Disabilities in Konibodom City, signed with Mr. Ghaybullo Bohiri, Chairperson of Konibodom City for the amount of USD 83,409;

- The Project for Provision of Agricultural Machinery to Paldorak Jamoat, Mastchoh District, signed with Mr. Gayrat Azizzoda, Chairperson of Mastchoh District for the amount of USD 83,230;

- The Project for Rehabilitation of Irrigation Canal in Dodikhudoyev Jamoat, Rushan District, signed with Mr. Khojanazar Imomnazar, Chairperson of Rushan District for the amount of USD 82,958;

- The Project for the Construction of Medical Clinic and No. 24 Elementary School Building in Kolkhozobod Village, Suchon Jamoat, Shugnan District, signed with Mr. Aziz Giyozoda, Chairperson of Shugnan District for the amount of USD 89,001;

- The Project for Construction of Irrigation System in Baravn Village, Vodkhud Jamoat, Vanj District, signed with Ms. Davlatbibi Rajabova, Chairperson of Vanj District for the amount of USD 82,973;

- The Project for Rehabilitation of School No. 95 in Sino District, Dushanbe City, signed with Ms. Safiya Teshayeva, Director of Public Education Authority of Sino District, Dushanbe City, for the amount of USD 91,981;

- The Project for Provision of Equipment and Construction of Support Center for Women in Qurghon Teppa City, signed with Ms. Rayhongul Haqberdiyeva, Director of NGO Dilafrouz, for the amount of USD 82,260;

- The Project for Rehabilitation and Equipment Provision for the Social Assistance Center for Pensioners and Elderlies with Disabilities in Dushanbe City, signed with Ms. Muhabbat Zaripova, Director of Social Assistance Center for Pensioners and Elderlies with Disabilities in Dushanbe City, for the amount of USD 23,000;

- The Project for Provision of Braille Printers and Braille Textbooks, signed with Mr. Kholmahmad Tengniyev, Director of the Branch of National Union of Blind People of Tajikistan in Dushanbe, for the amount of USD 24,997.

In his remarks during the ceremony Mr. Hajime Kitaoka emphasized Japan’s firm commitment to support Tajik people from human security perspective through socioeconomic development projects and wished the beneficiary organizations successful implementation of their projects. Embracing the occasion, the grant recipients expressed their gratitude to the Government and the people of Japan for their support and ensured that all the determined project goals will be achieved.

Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is provided to local governments, educational/ medical institutions and International NGOs in addressing development needs in the areas such as education, health, water supply and the environment. GGP supports projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level. As of today, GGP has supported 376 projects in the Republic of Tajikistan, for which more than USD 30.3million has been provided since 1996.
