Tashkent, Feb. 9, 2018 / Kabar /. The Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan on Confidence-Building Measures at the Borders came into force starting from Feb. 6, 2018, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.
The document is aimed at strengthening security and confidence, maintaining safekeeping and stability in the region of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border.
The agreement will allow cooperation on regional security and stability issues, fighting against terrorism, illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, counteracting new challenges and threats, as well as illegal migration across the state border.
The agreement was signed back in Oct. 6, 2017 in Tashkent within the framework of the state visit of former President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev to Uzbekistan.
