Bishkek, March 28 / Kabar /. Since the beginning of the year 126 emergency situations have been registered in Kyrgyzstan, 93 out of them are snow avalanches, Azamat Mambetov, deputy head of the Crisis Management Center under the Ministry of Emergency Situations told at Kabar Agency.
He said that since the beginning of the year there have been 14 landslides too.
"For comparison, I would like to report that in 2016 there were only 17 landslides, in 2017 only in three months there were 14 landslides, this is by 70% more. This situation is due to the fact that this year in winter snow fell 170-300 times more than the expected rate. Today there are 10 thousand potentially dangerous sites in the republic, 4 thousand of which threaten the population," he said.
In total, 61 people died as a result of emergency situations since the beginning of the year.
